What is better - rent a hotel or an apartment? Apartment for a day or a hotel room – what to choose? Rent an apartment or hotel room.

Many people traveling to tourist trip or just visiting friends in another city, wondering what is better: a hotel or an apartment for daily rent, where is it more convenient and cheaper to stay for a while? Let's weigh the pros and cons in favor of the appropriate option.

Rent a hotel daily: pros and cons

So, let's look at the advantages of staying in a hotel compared to temporary accommodation with a private owner:

  • safety and guarantee of the safety of personal belongings - hotels are under guard and surveillance;
  • availability of special places for daily parking;
  • no worries about cooking - hotels have cafes and restaurants;
  • equipping hotel rooms with amenities: coziness, comfort and order, which is monitored by hotel staff, trouble-free Internet connection in the room;
  • wide range of services (breakfast in the room, etc.)
  • business centers with a desktop computer and high-speed Internet, necessary for a business trip;
  • for amateurs active rest- fitness and entertainment centers, beauty salons - for those who want to get themselves in order.

The disadvantage of hotels is the frequent intersection with strangers living in the same building. But you can choose to rent a room in a mini-hotel. Some are expensive, and the quality of service does not always meet the client's expectations. Therefore, you need to carefully choose a place to stay daily, based on reviews.

Pros and cons of renting an apartment daily

Would an apartment or a room be more profitable? Daily apartment rental is a good choice for those who want to save money. You can rent a one-room apartment for several people; the number of beds does not affect the price. Another advantage is that you can choose a convenient area for temporary residence.

But you will have to maintain comfort and order in the apartment yourself. And this is not the main drawback. Other negative points:

  • lack of high security in apartments; owners are not responsible for the safety of things;
  • difficulty with parking, especially if the house is located in the city center.
  • It is profitable for apartment owners to rent out a place not for a day, but for long term. Consequently, it is difficult to find a suitable home for a short period. It’s easier to find a hotel for a day to stay. Another option is to rent an apartment.

When traveling for work or pleasure, it is better to choose accommodation with amenities and quality service. If you are in Moscow, book a room at the Key Element Hotel: the prices are optimal, the comfort is at its best. You can find out full information on the website.

Hello, my name is Alexey and I have not lived in hotels for 4 years. Only in extreme cases, when there is no choice or the inviting party provides it. When I come to a city, I just rent a cool apartment in the very center and go for a walk. But it wasn't like that before.

I was looking for a hotel in the very center, was shocked by the price of a room per night and booked a rooming house of 8 sq.m. on the outskirts. And this continued until I started renting apartments for daily rent. She took one, then another. And then there was no stopping me. Four years of exciting trips flew by in rented apartments. I had a lot of them and they were all different: beautiful, scary, with large rooms and small ones, new, old, on the first floor, on the last, in Arzamas, in Nizhny, in Kazan, in Budapest, in Tbilisi, in Yaroslavl, in Vologda, in Moscow, in Perm, in Minsk, in Brest, in Ryazan, in Prague, in Budva, in Arkhangelsk, in Yoshkar-Ola and other cities whose names I don’t even remember.

Just 4 years ago, I had only one, but persistent association with a daily rent apartment: a viper. I will say right away that in some cases, this, unfortunately, is true. If you rent an apartment based on an advertisement in a newspaper or at a bus stop, then in 90% of cases you will rent a viper. To avoid this and stop being afraid of rented apartments altogether, I will tell you how to do it correctly. And why apartments are better and more profitable than hotels.

1. Room area

The first reason to choose a daily apartment over a hotel is the living space. For the same price in the case of a hotel, you will get a one-room suite that can accommodate a couple of beds, bedside tables, a table and a TV. Or a whole apartment with two or three rooms! Regardless of the number of beds, the apartment is fully rented. If you want space, rent a three-ruble ruble and run around it. If you are traveling with a large group, rent three rubles and sit all night at one large table in the kitchen!

2. Price

The cost of housing is directly related to its capacity. You probably all know how prices differ for single, double, triple and quadruple rooms in hotels. The last two types are rarely found in free form and your large company or family is offered to split into free “kopeck piece” and “one-room apartment”, which can significantly hit the wallet. The cost of renting a large apartment is not much different from the cost of a small one. From my experience, average price A spacious and comfortable two-room apartment with 4-6 beds in Russia costs around 2000-3000 rubles per day. Dividing this by the number of residents, we get 500 rubles per person.

500 rubles is the most low price for a bed in run-down hotels like these:

And everywhere this magic figure is 500 rubles per bed-night. Russian tariff, however. For example, here are hotels in Nizhny Novgorod.

For comparison, here are several apartments for the same price:

Two-room apartment on Tverskaya street, 5A Nizhny Novgorod. For 2550 rubles per day. 4 sleeping places.

Two-room apartment on Volkova street, 6 in Yaroslavl. For 1900 rubles per day. 4 sleeping places.

3. Location

As I already wrote, I like to stay as close to the city center as possible. I usually arrive in another city by car, very tired. After a long road, you want to escape from behind the wheel, lock it and not approach it again until the morning. After this, walk to the river or sea, sit with light alcohol in a cafe and then, half asleep, crawl to bed. Hotels in this location usually have big, beautiful names and cost a lot of money. And from modest hotels to the city center you will have to travel by public transport. A taxi, of course, is also an option, but why?

Why, if there are plenty of apartments for rent in the city center? People specifically buy apartments in the center not to live in them, sniffing exhaust fumes and listening to the “roar of the cosmodrome,” but to rent them out. For the same 2-3 thousand you can rent a beautiful apartment on the top floor of a high-rise building, with a wonderful view of the river, mountains, park or sea. For example, like in Naberezhnye Chelny (even if it’s not exactly the center).

4. Choice

How many hotels can there be in a city? On average - a couple of dozen. In a small one - one or two. And the number of apartments goes into the hundreds. There is always a choice. One is busy, the other is free. If you didn’t like one, you chose another. Using special apartment rental services, you can generally choose apartments on a city map, taking into account the proximity to the sea, river, promenade, tavern or Lenin monument.
How larger city, the more offers for daily rental of apartments, the higher the competition, the more adequate and stable the prices. A paradox, but in a large and beautiful city, where there is something to see, prices for apartments are lower than in the half-dead Russian outback. For example, in Vyazma, apparently, there is only one landlord who owns all 5 rental apartments presented on the Sutochno.ru service :) Accordingly, the quality is low and the cost is high.

And here is the two-room apartment we rented last year in Perm for 2,000 rubles:

We were even photographed then for the section “Our Distinguished Guests” :)

5. Household environment

I have not met a single hotel with a washing machine and iron in the room. If you need to do your laundry, order laundry services for a fee. In many daily apartments, it is normal to have a full set of household appliances: washing machines, hair dryers, irons, boards, microwaves, huge refrigerators, ovens, hobs, and air conditioners. In one fancy three-room apartment in Minsk, on Skryganova Street, 4B, in each of the three rooms there was one large LCD panel, and a fourth flat-screen TV was hanging in the kitchen. It's a pity there was no bathroom. Otherwise it would be convenient to watch from the hydromassage. We paid 3,500 rubles for it and celebrated our youngest traveler’s birthday in it:)

At best, a low- and mid-budget hotel will have a TV, a hairdryer and a small refrigerator.

6. Immersion in the atmosphere and local color

Living in a city in a hotel is like swimming in a seaside resort in the pool, two steps short of the sea. If you want to get a taste of the real life of a new city for you, find out what the locals breathe and eat, rent an apartment in a residential area. Take a walk to the local “Magnit”, stock up on local beer, local sausage, sour cream, milk, and try fresh local pastries. Oh, what wonderful and cheap oil is in Vologda! In Ulyanovsk it is 3 times more expensive and we don’t buy it here. In Prague, right next to the apartment there was an absinthe store, in Arzamas there was a New Year’s tree in the yard and the residents danced there, in Ryazan, from the window you could see the railway station, which I passed by a hundred hundred times on the Ulyanovsk-Moscow route, in Tbilisi there was a classic courtyard of the old city with laundry and curious neighbors, and in Livadia there was a garage under the apartment where I parked the car. An indescribable delight in taste local life! From the very first turn of the key in the keyhole you begin to feel like a local resident :)

2-room apartment in Minsk on Yesenina, 16. For 2100 rubles per day. A perfect example of perfection rented apartment and the responsiveness of the hostess.

7. Food

When renting an apartment, you can save a lot on food by buying groceries at the nearest supermarket and cooking your own food on the stove.

1-room apartment in Smolensk on Normandy-Neman street, 7A. For 1800 rubles per day for 4 guests.

2-room apartment in Minsk on Yesenina, 16. For 2100 rubles per day.

8. Pleasant little things

Some apartment owners have already begun to adopt some of the things familiar to hotels. For example, a minibar in the refrigerator. You check in late at night and don’t have to run anywhere for beer and chips - everything is on the shelves. Disposable slippers and hygiene kits are nothing new.

“Full stuffing” in the bathroom of an apartment in Nizhny Novgorod, for 3000 rubles. per day.

Or towels arranged figuratively on the bed. It's a small thing, but nice.

Two-room apartment with a living room in Vologda, on Leningradskaya, 136. For 3000 rubles. per day.

How cool everything is! Tomorrow we are leaving for the sea and from now on we will only stay in apartments!

But don't rush... There are a couple of little things you should be prepared for:

Disadvantages and nuances

1. The first one, from which there is no escape - cleaning. More precisely, its absence. A daily rented apartment is usually cleaned twice: before your arrival and after. If you plan to stay there for a long time, then cleaning is up to you. But, as a rule, people do not live in such apartments for more than a week, and most often - a day or two.

Bathrooms in a Minsk and Nizhny Novgorod apartment for 2000 and 3000 rubles, respectively.

2. The second little thing is not a little thing at all, but significant nuance, which is quite common in Russia - dishonesty of landlords. Especially Kazan ones.

The point is that by booking a room in advance, you do not receive a guarantee that you will move into it. Kazan apartment owners are very fond of “delighting” you with the news that your apartment has not yet become available, but they will now offer you an equivalent or even the best option for the same price. And they bring you to a homeless shelter on the outskirts. This happened to me several times and specifically in Kazan. Even full prepayment may not help.

How to deal with this?

Market daily rental apartments in Russia are slowly but surely becoming civilized. The educator in this case is all kinds of apartment selection services. Abroad, you can choose and book an apartment on the website airbnb.com, where both the tenant and the landlord try to maintain and improve their reputation. In Russia there is also a similar service - Sutochno.ru. Its database contains about 80,000 apartments throughout Russia, neighboring countries and even Montenegro.

How does he work:

  • Set the city and search filter by dates and number of residents.

  • From the search results, using sorting by price, reviews or map, select an apartment.

  • Read reviews from previous guests.

  • Click the booking button, contact the owner on the website and make an advance payment, which remains with the service.

  • You arrive at the apartment, move in and live.

  • When you leave, don’t forget to leave a review on the service’s website for future travelers :)

In case you are not satisfied with something upon check-in, you cancel your reservation through the mobile application or by calling the Sutochno.ru hotline and then:

  • The prepayment is returned to you.

  • The landlord receives a fine and a negative review, which lowers him in the search rankings.

  • Sutochno.ru support helps you quickly choose another option. I was in their office - there are a lot of people constantly sitting there on their phones.

If in doubt, then everything is described in detail. In general, the guys are fighting such cunning landlords. The stronger the authority of the service, the more unscrupulous landlords will value their reputation. AirBnB has already brought up its own people - you can’t spoil them any more: just do something and you’ll be out of the profession.

And one more rule that should be followed when using such services for daily rental of apartments: never contact the landlord directly, bypassing the service. Otherwise, if you get scammed, no one will help you. Keep a history of correspondence and transfer the advance payment through the service, which will act as a third party in the dispute. If the landlord does not respond to a reservation request for a long time, just forget about this apartment and do not call the owner directly. There is a high probability that such an owner will provide you with another apartment upon arrival, of worse quality, and you will have nothing to prove. And always read reviews :)

Have a nice trip and beautiful apartments!

Many people who come to another city have a question about where they can stay for a couple of days. Some people prefer not to bother, but simply go to the nearest hotel and rent a room. Others, on the contrary, prefer to rent an apartment in a hotel for a day. Each of these options, of course, has its positive and negative sides. Therefore, in order to figure out what is better, a hotel room or an apartment for a day, it is worth considering the most obvious pros and cons of both options.

Benefits of staying in a hotel room.

1. Some people prefer to film hotel rooms only because it gives the newcomer a respectable status. Especially if a person chooses a very expensive hotel or inn. So, if you want to characterize yourself as a serious and respectable person, then a hotel for a day will be the best choice.
2. Reputable hotels offer clients comfortable living conditions, such as a swimming pool, a luxurious restaurant, entertainment clubs, gyms, etc. However, for an ordinary person, staying in such a hotel may not be affordable. Wealthy people can afford such luxury, even for one day.
3. Any hotel is equipped with a security system, which includes, in particular, video surveillance. For some, the safety of living in a room is a priority, but for others, on the contrary, being in front of observers is considered a completely uncomfortable matter. In any case, modern hotels always have security, a pass system and reliable security systems.
4. It also needs to be said that advanced hotel, which cares about its reputation and the comfort of its clients, has special centers where you can use a computer, the Internet and other similar services.
5. Also, when checking into a hotel, a person will no longer need to think about where he can have a tasty meal. After all, anyone hotel has its own kitchen with professional chefs. So, restaurants and cafes are an integral attribute of a modern hotel.

A few words about the disadvantages of checking into a hotel room.

1. The most important drawback, perhaps, is the fairly high cost of rooms in hotels and inns, and often there are simply not enough of them. I have to travel and look for a hotel where I could finally rent a room for a day. Some do it more cunningly - in advance. However, not everyone has such an opportunity. So, sometimes, renting an apartment for a day turns out to be more profitable financially and much faster.
2. It cannot be said that in a hotel a person will be able to retire and receive the expected privacy. After all, this, in fact, in addition to a personal number, public place(hall, restaurant, etc.), so there will always be a huge number of strangers around.
3. If you plan to rent a room for the purpose of business negotiations, then some difficulties may arise, since arranging a high-level meeting with snacks or even tea will be extremely problematic.
4. Each hotel has its own rules, so there are restrictions that apply to the guests of the hotel client - they can stay in the room, as a rule, no longer than 23 hours. Moreover, since the hotels operate a pass system, not a single guest will be allowed in until his identity is verified (passport, driver’s license and other similar documents).
5. The rooms do not have the required amount of household appliances that may be needed at any time (washing machine, stove, etc.). The hotel guest must resolve these issues independently.

Advantages of renting an apartment daily.

1. Housing availability. Nowadays, a huge number of companies in a matter of minutes will help a person find an apartment right here that will suit him in terms of location, number of rooms, price, etc. that is, the choice of rental housing is enormous.
2. Renting an apartment for a day is much cheaper than renting a hotel room. Saving money.
3. You can feel much more comfortable in an apartment than in a standard one hotel room. There is everything for a normal stay here: Appliances, telephone, internet and other amenities.
4. A person who has moved into a rented apartment can receive guests at any time without any restrictions. Such a room would not work in a hotel.
5. You can choose any apartment in any convenient area of the city for rent for a day.

Disadvantages of renting an apartment for a day.

1. Apartment rentals do not have the same security system as hotels. Although, of course, there are houses equipped with video surveillance. However, the cost of rent in secure houses will be higher.
2. In rented housing you have to take care of yourself: cooking, cleaning, etc.
3. If a visiting guest has a car, then finding parking near a rented apartment will be extremely problematic, while each hotel has its own personal parking.

Why are apartments more attractive than hotels?

Rent an apartment or hotel? This question is not an easy one, so everyone ultimately decides on their own depending on individual preferences. We will only consider the advantages of apartments in comparison with hotels of a similar class. Capital hostels, of course, allow you to save as much as possible, but the conditions created in them can hardly be called comfortable. Therefore, we will not consider this type of real estate.

If you are thinking about whether to rent a room or apartment for a day, you should know that with the same level of comfort private real estate characterized by the following advantages:

  • more reasonable price,
  • availability of a kitchen,
  • availability of a washing machine and other household appliances.

Our subscriber wrote a note on Instagram about what to choose on a trip: an apartment or a hotel. In our opinion, the arguments for both options are meaningful. With permission, we publish the entire post.

A post was born based on a question that was asked to me. I prefer staying in apartments rather than hotels. Although it varies. She wrote down the advantages of apartments and hotels for me.

  1. Saving. Often renting an apartment is cheaper than a hotel room. Especially if you are traveling with a group of friends. It would be more economical to rent an apartment with several rooms and live together, and in the evening get together, discuss the day and drink tea. Find an apartment with a good location by favorable price easier than a hotel in the same area.
  2. Nutrition. When you go for a long time, you can cook your own food. And if you have dietary requirements or children, it’s absolutely paradise. Cook yourself some buckwheat, some millet, some steaks. You control your own time: you don’t have to get up and run to breakfast from 7 to 9. Even in hotels, breakfast often consists of only rolls and sausages, but I like to eat porridge in the morning. And not every hotel has a kettle in the room.
  3. Personal space. The entire apartment is at your disposal. Dozens of people don’t pass by your door every minute, maids don’t wake you up in the morning, and you have breakfast in a relaxed atmosphere in your pajamas and watching YouTube, for example.
  4. Household amenities. Washing machine! Often apartments have coffee machines, irons, and some small things that may suddenly be needed. The apartment we rented in Prague had everything you might need, right down to a hair straightener and nail polish remover.
  5. Interior. There is often more choice of apartments than hotels. Every owner wants to stand out and make their apartment more attractive in some way. It could be a real loft, an authentic apartment, an apartment in some unusual room, with a terrace, access to the roof, etc. Hotel rooms are almost all standardized.
  6. The opportunity to feel not like a guest, but a resident of the city. It's a very fun cultural learning experience. new country. Living in an apartment gives more impressions than living in a hotel. You can make friends with the owners of the apartment or with pleasant local neighbors who will tell you about secret places"for our own."

In what cases will hotels be better:

  1. If you only need to stay for 1 night, it is better to take a hotel.
  2. If you arrive late or late at night, take a hotel. There is usually an administrator working there around the clock. The apartment may have difficulties with checking in at a later time, discuss this issue in advance.
  3. It is better to rent a hotel if you are going to a specific place, for example, a resort with thermal springs. In such places, hotels usually have some kind of bonuses, such as their own source, spa or some kind of transfer, etc. There will be no such bonuses in the apartment.
