Are there sandy beaches in Corfu? Kerkyra

The island of Corfu, washed by two seas at once - the Adriatic from the west and the Ionian from the east, is very popular both among the Greeks themselves and among tourists from all over the world. Corfu is famous not only for its connection with ancient Greek myths and interesting architectural monuments, but also for its picturesque landscapes, excellent climate and amazing beaches.

The beaches of Corfu are truly magnificent - soft golden sand and small pebbles, clear sea, well-developed infrastructure, many variety of entertainment for vacationers of all ages. It is comfortable and safe to relax on the beaches of Corfu even with small children, since the coast here is flat and the sea near the shore is shallow.

Nissaki

Nissaki is located in a cozy bay, the shores of which protect it from strong winds and waves. This picturesque Corfu beach is located in the northeast of the island, between resort villages Barbati and Kassiopi. Nissaki Beach is a great place for a calm, measured holiday; it is usually not too crowded and you can easily find a secluded place where no one will disturb you. Romantic lovers love Nissaki precisely because of the small coves where you can hide from prying eyes and admire amazing views of the sea.

Nissaki is popular with divers – crystal pure water allows you to see rich marine life and explore caves

Nissaki is also popular among divers - the crystal clear water allows you to see the rich marine life, the beauty of underwater landscapes, and also explore the caves formed in the rocks. The beach is also suitable for families with children - the entrance to the sea is quite flat.

Near Nissaki there are several taverns serving the freshest fish, seafood and excellent local dishes. A little further away there is a fishing port where you can hire a boat for fishing or a short sail along the coast.

Sidari

Sidari Beach, located in the vicinity of the village of the same name, is considered the youngest in Corfu - it is always fun and lively. By the way, Sidari beach, as well as Paleokastritsa, were mentioned in our other article about Kerkyra -.

Sidari is a long coastal strip, as well as several coves separated by high sandy headlands. One of these capes is separated by the Lovers' Channel, a picturesque and romantic place where couples love to watch sunrises and sunsets. They say that a couple who swims across the canal holding hands will never part; if you are in search of your soulmate, you need to swim under the arch formed in the rocks.

The Lovers' Channel is a picturesque and romantic place

The infrastructure of Sidari Beach in Corfu is well developed - there is a rental of sun loungers and umbrellas, organized paragliding, yachting, ATV riding, and a diving and surfing school. IN close proximity many cafes, restaurants, bars, clubs, where music and fun do not subside even at night.

Perulades

On famous beach Peroulades, located two kilometers from Sidari, tourists come not to swim and sunbathe, but to admire the magnificent sunset. The beach itself is a narrow strip of sand, above which hundred-meter cliffs rise - so narrow that only one sun lounger can fit on the coastal strip. You can go down to Peroulades beach only along rather steep wooden stairs built right into the rocks. During high tides or slight waves, the coastal strip is completely filled with water.

Perulades is a narrow strip of sand, above which hundred-meter steep cliffs rise

At the top, on the rocks overhanging the beach, there are several parking lots, as well as a tavern with an open-air terrace, which offers a stunning view of the sea - here you can drink a glass of magnificent food, have a delicious dinner, and, if desired, stay overnight. Peroulades Beach is quite popular, so both tables in the tavern and apartments need to be booked in advance.

Agios Gordios

The best beach on the west coast of Corfu, Agios Gordios, is located about 20 kilometers from the city. Not far from the sea, right in the coastal area, is the church of Agios Gordios, which gives the name to the place.

This magnificent sandy beach lies in a beautiful bay surrounded by quaint cliffs covered with olive trees and vineyards. The sand on the shore of the beach is very fine and soft, the descent into the sea is long and gentle, and the sea is always calm, which is why Agios Gordios is very popular among tourists with small children - the children enjoy splashing in the shallow water.

Agios Gordios lies in a beautiful bay surrounded by bizarre rocks

A series of small houses for vacationers stretches along the beach - each house has its own access to the sea. Both on the territory and in the vicinity of the beach there are many bars, cafes and taverns where you can have a snack or enjoy a cool drink, as well as a small shop and souvenir shop. As on other Corfu beaches, you can rent umbrellas, sun loungers, air mattresses, and catamarans here.

Paleokastritsa

Paleokastritsa beach, considered the best in Corfu, is located in the village of the same name, 25 kilometers northwest of the capital of Corfu. The beach area consists of six sandy and sand-pebble beaches, surrounded by picturesque cliffs and green olive groves.

There are a lot of cozy bays with a gently sloping shore - sheltered by rocks from waves and winds, they are perfectly suitable for family vacation: You can swim and sunbathe here even with small children - it’s completely safe.

In the beach area of Paleokastritsa there are many cozy bays with a gentle shore

Divers also love Paleokastritsa: the coastal underwater world amazes with its diversity and splendor; in addition, one of the best diving centers in Corfu is located in Paleokastritsa. Excursions to rock caves depart from here, which can only be reached by water– on a boat or boat.

Today I will tell you about the features of a holiday on my favorite Greek island - Corfu. I have been to several islands of this wonderful country, but the island of Corfu has firmly taken first place in my heart.

From skepticism to love

We vacationed on the island of Corfu at the beginning of September. I went with a skeptical attitude - this place was praised too much, suspicions even creeped in, but Corfu is a truly magical place, it is an island unlike any other in Greece. It has a strong Italian influence - especially in the cuisine and architecture. And this is the only Greek island where you can see the Adriatic Sea. The second sea in Corfu is the Ionian. In principle, the features of the island are such that in the morning you can swim in the Ionian Sea, and in the afternoon - in the Adriatic.

Vegetation and weather.

The island of Corfu is very green. Compared to the islands Aegean region he's just a jungle. But this lush vegetation has one caveat - it often rains and thunderstorms occur in Corfu. They are not prolonged, but nevertheless they can lower the temperature of the air and water. It is better to go here in July, August and the very beginning of September. Later there is a risk of frequent rain. Yes, there are a lot of mosquitoes on the island in the evening, be sure to stock up on mosquito repellents.

Beaches of Corfu

The beaches in Corfu are very diverse - sandy, pebble, mixed. Everyone will find something to suit their taste. There are long and extended ones, and there are small coves. I’ll tell you about the main beaches below in the review.

North coast of Corfu island

In the north of Corfu there is the Ionian Sea and sandy beaches. There are also beautiful sunsets here. The longest sandy beach in the north of Corfu - Acharavi beach. We just stopped there. The sea in this place is warm. The beach is comfortable, although sometimes it is filled with waves of pebbles and it will be uncomfortable for small children to enter the sea (a dip forms near the shore, and then again there is a flat sandy bottom). Adults - no problem.

There are many hotels, both large and small, along the entire beach. It's a matter of taste - what to choose. The peculiarity of hotels in Corfu is that even three-room apartments are often on the first line. This is due to the structural features of the island - it is elongated and there is mountainous terrain in the middle, so the hotels are pressed to the shore. Not all, of course, but the majority.

Another sandy beach in the north of the island - Agios Spyridonous. Saint Spyridon is the patron saint of the island of Corfu. On this beach there is a chapel dedicated to him. The beach itself is in a cove, very picturesque and comfortable.

Also in the north of the island of Corfu is the famous Love channel. This is the place Sidari. The place as a whole is quite calm, the beaches are sandy, but very compact. There are a lot of people on the beaches (since there are few beaches themselves). Hotels have both small apartments and large ones, but the large ones are located away from the coast. For example, there is a Cyprotel Panorama VIllage, which I considered as an option for myself, but abandoned this idea because of a child who would find it difficult to go to the beach.

In general, the coast in the area Sidari very picturesque because of the folded rocks. It seems to me that living here on the shore in an apartment would be a good option.

West coast of Corfu

The west of Corfu is the Adriatic Sea. It is colder than the Ionian and there are mainly pebble beaches. The water is crystal clear up close, but when viewed from above it is inky blue. There is lush and picturesque vegetation here. In the west of the island of Corfu there is the famous Paleokastritsa.

Not far from Paleokastritsa there is a castle Angelokastro. A stone staircase leads to it, and from above there are magnificent views of Paleokastritsa and the Adriatic.

Below by west bank there are two wonderful beaches - Glyfada beach and beach Agios Georgios. Both are wonderful. Sand, wide coastline. Agios Georgios beach has picturesque cliffs at the very end.

This is Glyfada beach:

This is Agios Georgios beach:

East coast of Corfu island

On the eastern side of the island of Corfu is the capital - the city of Kerkyra. Be sure to visit the old town and sea fortress, they are very atmospheric. Old city Reminds me of old Italian films. Narrow streets, shutters, clotheslines, cages with canaries...

In Kerkyra there is Liston Street, modeled after the Parisian Rue de Rivoli.

The Church of St. Spyridon is popular among tourists. The relics of the patron saint of Corfu are kept there. If you travel by car, there is a large free parking. There are a lot of cars on it, but if you want you can find a place.

The sea on the eastern side of Corfu is Ionian and very warm. This is the strait between mainland Greece and an island. There are hotels for every taste, I will write below about the hotels that I considered and where our friends were.

Not far from Kerkyra is located architectural monument - Achilleion Palace. Empress Sisi lived here. The palace is small but pretty, and there is a well-kept garden around it. What I remember most is the patio with Greek statues and giant statue Achilles.

Northeast coast of Corfu island

The northeast of Corfu is a mountainous area, as Mount Pantakrator is located here. There is a small monastery on it. Climbing the mountain by car is absolutely possible, the main thing is that there is no fog, it interferes with a comfortable ride along the serpentines. The mountains are very beautiful, quiet and easy to breathe.

And along the north-eastern coast of Corfu there are hotels and celebrity villas. This is the most respectable area islands. Lost somewhere here is Brad Pitt's villa.

One of the coves in the northeast:

In the same part of the island is the former capital of the island - the fishing town of Kassiopi. It has the freshest and most delicious fish.

On south We didn’t reach the island, but according to the stories of the locals, there are wide sandy beaches and strong waves. Surfers go there.

Roads and car rental

You can rent a car in Corfu. It is better to do this not in a hotel (prices will be inflated), but in rental offices. Please keep in mind that problems with flat tires and broken windows are not covered by any insurance. Insurance also does not apply on dirt roads. The roads in Corfu are difficult, in some places there are quite steep serpentines (not for beginners behind the wheel), and in some villages the streets are so narrow that two cars simply cannot pass each other.

Kitchen Corfu is Greek, but with a strong Italian influence. Delicious pizzas are prepared in wood-burning ovens. The signature drink in Corfu is kumquat liqueur. It's so orange and looks like cough syrup.

HOTEL Acharavi Beach. We stayed here. The hotel is 3 stars, located on the 1st line from the beach, the rooms are both standard and studio (with kitchen). The food is very decent, although there is not a lot of choice. For dinner 2-3 hot dishes, appetizers, salads, desserts. Everything is delicious. There is a beach bar with panoramic windows and a good selection of cocktails. 2 swimming pools - adults and children. The rooms are small, but quite comfortable. The only thing is did not like– lazy maids (they didn’t clean well) and a cot (not a bed) for a child for extra. place.

HOTEL Cyprotel Panorama VIllage(3 stars) in Sidari. Not a bad option if you are willing to walk to the beach for 10-15 minutes (downhill there, uphill back). The beach is sandy, good for children - long shallow. In general, I liked Sidari, it’s quite calm and picturesque.

HOTEL Corfu Maris in the town of Benitses. Pay attention to this option. This is a small hotel, it has practically no territory. But it is located right by the sea, it has its own beach, all the rooms have a sea view and the owner is Russian (married to a Greek). Seats here sell out instantly. The hotel is quite budget friendly. The cooks are very praised and, which is rare for Greece, they have porridge for breakfast (you can feel the Russian hostess). The downside is that on one side of the hotel there is the sea, and on the other there is a road and it is quite busy. But if you are not afraid of the noise of cars, you can safely come here. Another advantage of this place is that it’s close to the airport, making it quick and convenient to get there. I wanted to get here, but I didn’t have time - all the rooms were sold out.

HOTEL Messonghi Beach Resort (3 stars). Our friends vacationed here. This a good place for holidays with children. Shallow beach, warm sea, children's mini-club, slides, swimming pool, animation.
With numbers - depending on your luck. There are new buildings, and there are old ones. They are very much scolded and at the beginning of your vacation you can go around swearing about moving to normal conditions. Otherwise the hotel is good. There are always a lot of people there, but if that doesn’t scare you, then choose it.

HOTELS Louis

And one piece of good advice for you. Beware of hotels in the Louis system, for some reason they don’t like Russians. I lived at the Luis Hotel on the island of Zakynthos and it was not a good experience. The problem is that for some reason Russians are massively accommodated in the worst rooms. My friends got into history in Corfu. There are two or even three Louis hotels in Corfu. One of them is located on the gorgeous Glyfada beach, the other is near Kerkyra. Our friends who bought rooms in the one in Luis, which is on the beach, were sent to the one in the city, citing the lack of available rooms. And this is when booking through a tour operator and much in advance. As a result, instead of the sea there was a swimming pool, as well as scandals and a ruined vacation.

What else is good about the island of Corfu - from here they take you to the mainland to the eighth wonder of the world - Meteora. The tour takes a whole day, but the spectacle is worth it.

If you have any questions, I will be happy to answer them.

Happy travels and holidays to everyone!

Corfu beaches reviews

Early this morning we went to see the beaches of Corfu.
We drove a rented car to Corfu
Let's go from where we live now - Villa Artemis and go around Corfu counterclockwise.
That is, we are going north along the eastern (north-eastern) coast of Corfu.
I was lazy - having passed from Nissaki before Paleokastritsa- turned home.

The sun shines directly into the camera lens and if I wanted to photograph something, the image would be overexposed.
That’s why I don’t stop: I won’t be able to capture the bays of the northeast that come my way, and there’s nowhere to stop—the roads to Corfu are narrow.

We only drove off the road to the beach once, my wife read that the beach was famous - Agni(Agni).
I don’t know why it’s famous in tourist guides, but the place is worse than ours Kaminaki and didn’t even bother taking out the camera – just a bay with boats and yachts.
The parking lot is far from the beach.
I didn't want to swim here.

The second beach on our way to the northern coast of Corfu is the beach Kogevina(Kogevina)
This beach is better than Agni.
But it is also inferior to ours.
But there is parking, the entrance is like ours - pebbles.
The water is clear, but there is no highlight.

If you drive a little further along the road, behind the cape in quiet bay there is a shrimp farm.
At first I assumed that oysters are grown here, but then I looked at the shape of the cages in the water - for oysters they are square, like in the photo

Beaches in the north of Corfu

We quietly move to the northern coast of Corfu.
You can feel the difference: the beaches here are like the shores of some estuary or swamp.
The shore is dirty in color and resembles a mixture of clay and earthen sand.

The depth is ankle-deep for tens of meters.
Sand sticks to your feet and is difficult to wash off.
The tactile impressions from contact are unpleasant.

I cross out the beaches in the north of Corfu from the places on the island that are pleasing to the eye.
I don’t like places where hotels, package tourists, and souvenir shops gather.
These are the beaches: Kalamaki(Kalamaki) and Seki(Seki)

Beaches Sidari(Sidari) - muddy water, dirty sand, stinks of rot, a lot of sunbeds and hotels.
The depth of the sea can be seen in the photo.
Right Love Channel(Canal d'Amur).

Something like something pulled out of thin air: a shallow ravine cut through thicker fossilized clay.
They say that if you swim along this canal, all the women will be yours.

It’s true - I would really like this, but I had absolutely no desire to swim in this puddle.
This attraction can be crossed out from your plans for visiting places in Corfu.

Cape Drastis

Next stop: Cape Drastisnorthern point islands of Corfu.
Don’t park your car where everyone else is doing it - drive further along the country road, why walk in the heat?
We didn’t go to the cape itself - I let it go there: I took a photo and video without entrance ticket at 10 euros.
The place is beautiful - I recommend it.

Further along the road we stopped at the beach Loggas(Loggas)
This is not a swimming beach, although you can go down.
Better go to a bar Panorama and take a selfie on the glass canopy over the abyss.
To your right there will be a steep bank of petrified clay.
You can see this and take a photo - see the map above.

Beaches in west Corfu

We are already driving along the western coast of Corfu and after Arila beach we stop at the beach further south Agio Georgios Pagon.
Here we finally took a swim.
The water is clean, but icy. This is the peculiarity of Corfu - on west coast the water is much colder than in the east - cold currents.
On the shore of the beach there is coarse yellow sand, the entrance to the sea is deep, small pebbles at the bottom.

3 beaches were promised in secluded bays.
In reality it’s like this: there are probably beaches there, but you have to leave your car somewhere in a village on a mountain and walk about 20 minutes to get to these beaches.

All around there are signs on the asphalt No parking, no public parking was found.
Besides, walking under the scorching sun is not our method.
I didn’t send the drone there either. No photo.
Let's go further south - to Paleokastritsa

Beaches of Paleokastritsa

Paleokastritsa is very a nice place— in this place the coast is gnawed by numerous coves, some are privatized by hotels or bars.
There are several in Paleokastritsa public beaches— the port can serve as a reference point.
There is ample public parking. But there are a lot of people. After our cozy and small beach in the northeast, it’s uncomfortable here.

Organized tourists are brought to one of the public beaches of Paleokastritsa by bus - like an excursion. Perhaps someone will understand my horror at this. Nevertheless, people enjoy the sea: they swim, take selfies and photo shoots with mermaids

It’s too early to draw conclusions about the best place to relax in Corfu - we have one more day here before our trip to Albania, but I correctly guessed the current place, which I advise you to do.
Northeast Corfu from the beach Barbati in the south to Kalami in the north of the Corfu Riviera.

Video from our beach

Beaches of the west coast south of Paleokastritsa

We had time to see several beaches south of Paleokastritsa:
Ermones Beach shared by two taverns and a hotel.
The beach is small and quite cozy.

There are small pebbles on the shore, the entrance to the water is good and comfortable.
The water is clear, there are no waves. The best time to swim here is in the evening when the water is warm. The bottom is hard sand.

If you move to the right side of the beach, then further along the shore there is a narrow path and you can park your car and walk to the bay with a secret beach.
There are nudists.

Myrtiotissa Beach

This is a very beautiful beach with very difficult parking.
If you're lucky, you'll find a place to park your car below.
Otherwise, you will have to smoke tires on a steep climb and park at a tavern or on the side of the road, and then walk up and down on foot.

The beach is small and consists of several islands of yellow sand.
There are no waves. Entering the water is very comfortable.
The water is clear as a tear. The place was chosen by nudists, but they cluster around the edges and do not interfere with life.

Glyfada Beach
I don't like him in the picture, so I took a photo of him from above.
Nothing special and a lot of people.

Pelekas Beach
This is terrible.
Look at the photo:

That's all. All beaches are marked on the map - you can use it for navigation.

Probably, every city, and even more so if we are talking about a resort, has its own “branded” places. It is from these sights that you can guess the place and form your own impression of it. There are several such places on Corfu (or the island of Kerkyra, as the Greeks themselves call it). But the main thing business card This place has gorgeous beaches. In this article you will discover the best beaches in Corfu.

Pebble beaches

For your convenience, we have divided the main beaches of Corfu into two categories: pebble and sand. Some beaches are pebble and sand, this will be discussed separately in the description.

Magnificent Paleokastritsa

If you decide to search the Internet for photos of Corfu beaches, pictures of Cape Paleokastritsa will probably appear in the first place. Many consider this cape to be the most picturesque attraction of the island and tend to go there.

From the capital of the island, Kerkyra, you can get to Paleokastritsa by Green Bus (that’s the name of the bus), the ticket costs a few euros. The journey will take about thirty minutes. Another way to admire the cape is to book a tour of Kerkyra, not a single one tourist group doesn't pass by. However, in this case it is unlikely that you will be able to plunge into the warm sea.

If you go to the beach, be sure to take a mask and fins with you, because the water is clean and the underwater world is rich. Everything around is fragrant with the aromas of the Mediterranean.

Buses come straight to the central beach, and there is also a pier. On it, locals offer a ride on a yacht or boat through grottoes and caves. It seems that there are too many foreign tourists, but most do not make noise and maintain the harmony of this place. Here you will find incredibly picturesque bays. Paleokastritsa has the best beaches in Corfu; on the map you can find the city in the western part of the island.

There is sand mixed with pebbles. The entrance to the water is purely sandy, so special shoes are not needed. Be prepared that the water in June will be cold; it is better to swim later. But at any time of the year, the turquoise transparent sea will not leave you indifferent!

Barbati – fashionable beach

Barbati is a very clean pebble beach with clear water. From the shore you can see Albania, and if you sail further away, you will have a magnificent view of Mount Pantokrator. Anyone can rent sunbeds and umbrellas (there are always enough of them, trestle beds are placed in several rows). There are places to eat on Barbati. You will find both a shower and a toilet here. Despite all the amenities, the place is not crowded. The only exceptions are weekends, when the Greeks want to relax too. If you get tired of the heat, you can walk through the olive grove that separates the coastline from the residential complexes.

In general, Barbati is a “glamorous village” the best place for parties where the cream of Greek society come to relieve the burden of fatigue. And if you are looking for beaches on the island of Corfu where you can also hang out, then this is the place for you! There are clubs within walking distance, where you can get a beautiful tan and cool off with a delicious cocktail. If you love music, fun, and the smell of coffee in the air, then you are in the right place.

Modern Agios Gordios

Agios Gordios is comfortably located in the most beautiful bay of Corfu, which can be immediately recognized from the photo. Typical features of the beach are the characteristic rocky terrain and a small rock that seems to be peeking out from the sea. This is the western coast of the island, and is traditionally considered European. There are very few Slavs in the village and by the sea.

Agios Gordios is civilized and there are plenty of places to eat. There are taverns with delicious national cuisine. Moreover, many coastal restaurants and bars offer customers free sun loungers. Even if you don't buy anything, the sun loungers are inexpensive. Two sunbeds with an umbrella cost from 5 euros per day.

If you are wondering where the sandy beaches are in Corfu, you will find part of the answer here. Agios Gordios is quite big, about three kilometers long. There is sand on the shore, but the entrance to the sea is strewn with small pebbles. There are no sharp changes, the approach is smooth, and deep places start 15 meters from the shore. If you search, you might come across wild beach with stunning fine sand not only on the shore, but also in the sea. In general, the place is ideal for relaxation, especially with small children.

Porto Timoni – when the mountains embrace the sea

Porto Timoni is a truly virgin place with lush vegetation and the clearest sea. In terms of beauty, this is the best beach in Corfu. By public transport You won’t be able to get there: only by rented car, taxi, or on your own. Even if you go by car, on the way to the beach you still have to overcome the descent from the mountain (about a quarter of an hour), and, accordingly, you will have to climb back. We advise you to take a change with you. But the views of Porto Timoni are worth all the effort. Therefore, when you are asked about the most beautiful beaches in Corfu, you will probably talk about Porto Timoni.

Before the descent, you can refresh yourself in a cafe, and head on to the gorgeous pebble coast. To avoid getting lost, look at the signs and look for the words “Double beach”. In general, the name is not entirely true. In fact, there are three beaches, it’s just that getting to the third one is even more difficult than getting to the first two, so there are usually no people there.

When going to any of them, it is advisable to take an umbrella with you, because you will not find shade. North Beach windy, the water seems colder. But in southern Porto Timoni there is no wind at all, so there are a lot of wasps. For those who don't want to climb the mountains, there is an option to get to the beach by catamaran or boat.

Bataria – beach with white stones

Bataria is cozy and clean, but the pebbles on it are large. The trestle beds and umbrellas are paid, almost all are laid out on the stones. When entering the water, pebbles can cause trouble: pebbles can injure feet, especially for children. It is better to immediately purchase rubber shoes for swimming.

But the views are simply fantastic: azure water contrasts with white rocks. Wonderful views of nature! The photos come out great. However, there are also disadvantages.

The beach is small, there are a lot of people during the day. The sunbeds provided are uncomfortable, the umbrellas are old and sometimes broken. There is no toilet or shower. There is only a cafe where you can visit the toilet. But there are changing cabins on Bataria. But in terms of transport accessibility no questions, there is parking above the beach.

Rovinia – beauty wildlife

Rovinia Beach is a small pebble and rocky beach. Buses do not go here, but you can easily get there by car, boat (sea taxi) or on foot. Parking is available nearby. White pebbles, blue sea, tempting grottoes. The water is crystal clear, there are no algae, it would be a shame not to snorkel and try to catch fish with your hands! The sea is deep.

A secluded place, but still you can’t call it paradise. There is dirt and in terms of landscaping there is something to complain about. There are no sunbeds or umbrellas. In addition, due to the fact that the beach is wild, there are no buoys or restrictions for boats. Everyone can scurry along the shore in a motor boat. Sometimes this creates a danger: people are in the water, and a boat is passing nearby. You never know how it might end.

It’s difficult to find Rovinia Beach without instructions from the locals, because there are no signs. The road to the beach itself is picturesque and runs through olive groves. You can buy food on a small boat that brings snacks and drinks. They sell decent sandwiches, inexpensive beer and iced coffee.

This is interesting: What attractions to see in Corfu first.

Sandy beaches of Corfu

Those who do not like pebbles, but have chosen Corfu for their holiday, will find good sandy beaches on the island: noisy and secluded, popular and uncrowded.

Agios Georgios – a secluded place to relax

This sandy beach is clean and large. There are inclusions of pebbles at the entrance to the water. There are usually few people here.

Employees of hotels, shops and tourist shops do not know Russian words at all. Our compatriots usually relax on east coast, and we offer tours there.

You can get to Agios Georgios at any time of the day or night by taxi, in about twenty minutes. Corfu is all serpentines and rocks, so if you have a phobia of heights, you may feel uncomfortable.

The entry into the sea is beautiful, but there can be waves in this part of the island. Although for many this is a plus. Of course, you won’t be able to surf, but you can ride the waves with small children. Dolphins swim past. They sometimes put on their amazing show for vacationers.

The sea is shallow for the next ten meters, then the depth begins. You can always find a shower with fresh water to rinse off.

Less crowded Gardenos

This beach is ideal for a break from the noise popular places on the coast of Corfu. Locals and tourists who live nearby relax here. It is not one of those beaches that people travel to from the other end of Corfu. Gardenas is huge, completely sandy - sand both on the shore and in the sea. The water is warmer than in Paleokastritsa.

If you go there by car, it is better to take umbrellas and blankets with you. Umbrellas conveniently stick into the sand, you can save on rent. Open space, the wind blows almost always.

There are shops and restaurants in front of the beach entrance. There is a shower and changing room. Fish and other marine life can be seen in the water.

On the shore there is a small and simple restaurant with very reasonable prices. You can order takeaway and enjoy your food while looking at the sea from your sun lounger.

Mirtiotissa – no need to be shy

Stunning beach, one of the best and most picturesque in all of Greece. The main part of Myrtiotissa is given over to nudists. Be prepared for this. The beach is modest, cozy, with a sandy, gentle approach to the sea.

A special feature of the beach is its secluded location: you can only get here by rented car or moped. By the way, in order to go down to the sea, you will have to overcome a sharp descent, and a scooter with a weak engine may then not be able to climb up. Umbrellas here are surprisingly free, they are handed out to everyone at the entrance, but you have to pay for the opportunity to lie on a sun lounger.

This is one of the nicest resorts in Corfu with sandy beaches. There is a bar with drinks and snacks, and a restaurant along the road. Due to its specificity, Myrtiotissa is often visited by tourists from Western Europe and representatives of sexual minorities. However, there are many families with children.

Another wonderful beach– Paradise. Translated – “paradise beach”. Tourists love it for its soft sand, convenient access to the sea and clean water. In addition, the beach is very exotic and secluded.

It is important that you cannot get there by land; you will only have to get there by sea.

If you are arriving by boat, remember that it is forbidden to land on the shore. However, if there are no people on Paradise, an exception can be made.

According to the rules, you need to anchor at a distance of fifty meters and swim there, like Robinson Crusoe. This means that you won’t be able to take anything with you. The most best time for mooring - early morning. A taxi boat will cost fifteen euros for each passenger, and renting the entire boat for a day will cost about 80 euros. It’s convenient to moor, you can plan your time as you want.

The left side of Paradise beach is more “civilized” and gently sloping: there are sun loungers and umbrellas. The right half is deserted, there are large stones in the sea. In general, the beach is long and generally pleasing to the eye, but if you want to explore the shore better, take shoes with you for walking on the rocks. Sheer snow-white cliffs, dense greenery, a long narrow strip of coastline - your heart will forever remain here!

Marathias

Wide clean sandy beach with a pleasant entry into the sea. It is easy to get here by car or scooter. There are few tourists here, it is quiet and cozy. Most of the visitors are Greeks, and almost no Slavs. Clear water with occasional small waves and wind. The depth near the shore is shallow, so Marathias is suitable for both small children and old people.

A huge space where you can play beach games or just sunbathe. Almost everyone praises the stunning “golden” sand of Marathias. There are plenty of bars and restaurants here. Relaxing music is often played. Overall a fantastic beach for all ages and safe for children. A sunbed with an umbrella can be rented here for 3.
