1. In Sozopol there is a Selena hotel, and there is also a Selena Beach. Both are 3*, which is why the Internet produces a bunch of them upon request. Drivers also tend to confuse hotels.
Selena Beach3* is located on Via Pontica. This is about 1 km from "Veselaya Street", the local "Deribasovskaya".
So, a surprise from the hotel: Selena Beach actually accommodates its guests in the nearby Villa Pontica. In Selena, places are full - live nearby, dear guests. No one bothered to notify about this in advance. This is like the second building of the hotel. But what was the point then for us to look at the photos of the Selena Beach Hotel???
Surprise No. 2: the hotel administration, instead of the paid 2 double rooms for 4 tourists, provides one apartment-type room.
This is a 2-room suite with one toilet/shower.
The question is, why do I need this hostel on my vacation, for my money??? In general, the Bulgarians could not clearly explain where our people paid for under the scheme were. early booking numbers. However, later there was information that tourists from Scandinavia had arrived and therefore the rooms were occupied.
I suppose that the Bulgarians were overwhelmed by the thirst for profit and our rooms were pre-sold, and they decided to simply “compact” us by placing us in 1 room. But this trick did not work with the young ladies from Odessa.
The administration, realizing the seriousness of our intentions to call the Bulgarian and Odessa tour operator, cheerfully offered 2 local number at the Relax Hotel, which is 15 meters from Selena. By the way, in fact, it is “Relax” in the 1st line, and not Selena or her appendage Vila Pontica. These two hotels got the 1st line partially and by accident - it’s just that in front of them there is a building site, a kind of vacant lot (of which there are a couple more nearby, since the area is newly built), through which, by the way, you go to the beach. As soon as the hotel is built, no one will see the sea from Selena again. Even now only part of it is visible from behind the first line of hotels...
Regarding the "lush garden surrounding the hotel" - there is no garden. There are well-kept plants on the territory. And a very nice gazebo. And a children's playground - 1 slide + 1 swing. Wifi is good though. :)
By the way, God forbid you go to the “park side” - these are just windows facing the road. The road is level with the windows of the 2nd floor, tourists walking, Bulgarian drivers who like to honk - the pleasure is extremely dubious.
About the restaurant. Not even 3 stars, but 2. The waiters are proud birds, if you kick them, they won’t move. Girls are quicker than boys. They generally become deaf and dumb from time to time and are simply stupidly silent.

About the language. The local population aged 30 and older speaks excellent Russian. Young people are trying to show off and pretend that they only understand Bulgarian and English... It’s strange to see this in a Slavic country... And sad. How long ago did they become such Englishmen???
Well, oh well... As compensation for our relocations and the broken company, the hotel management, at our insistence, gave us a 15% discount on the restaurant. Guests who were not offended were given 10%. They constantly asked if we were happy with everything, etc.
The host country (Aya Tour) on the penultimate day sent its employee who was supposed to accommodate us. He says he was sick. Brought a box of wine as compensation.
I must tell you that even though the Bulgarians messed up, they tried to correct the situation, especially after the call from the Kyiv representative of Gamalia, from whom we took the tour. This was the situation.
By the way, be careful with the hotel kitchen - once they served sour fish soup. We returned it back. They also served sour eggplant caviar. In general, what is prepared in advance can go wrong. The rest of the dishes are normal, tasty, at reasonable prices.
Breakfast - Buffet: feta cheese-cheese-olives-tomatoes-cucumbers-sausages-omelet-fruit-baked goods. Not luxurious, but quite edible and in sufficient quantities. Reminds me of Turkey.
I can say in summary: holidays in Bulgaria are good, quite suitable for youth groups and mothers and fathers with children. Not expensive, no language barrier, warm sea, wide beaches. The rooms are cleaned daily, no tips are taken, towels are changed on time..
The downsides are the tedious bus journey and unexpected surprises from hotel employees.

The design is very nice, the rooms and the dining room are pleasing to the eye!!! Only there are more entertainment areas for children and slides should be made by the pool in case of bad weather!!! Convenient - there is a supermarket nearby...

The hotel is located on the second line from the sea, next to the wonderful bamboo beach. We checked in late at night, they met us at the reception and showed us to our room, briefly introducing us to the events, so to speak. The room is cozy and clean. There is a buffet for breakfast, but it’s the same thing every day, there wasn’t much to choose from, and if you come for breakfast after 09:30, there isn’t much left. And as it turned out the next day, wi-fi in room 301 was poor, there was practically none. We asked to do something, but they only turned it off and on, but this will not expand its range of action. This was a little disappointing. Because sometimes he was really needed. We took it with a sea view, but we could see a piece of the sea between the two hotels. The windows on the other side face the road, there are always cars and people there, I would not recommend taking rooms that do not look towards the sea. And for some reason, when the soap in the room ran out, they didn’t give us new ones. But they cleaned up every day. We left tips, not every day really, but still, a little dusty. Quite a cozy room with a balcony. The hood in the bathroom does not work well and there was a very unpleasant smell in the bathroom in the evening. I really liked the location of the hotel. Parking is free and convenient. We only had breakfast included. And a couple of times we had dinner at a restaurant. Don't take the tagliatelle with salmon, I felt sick at night after it. And chicken with vegetables, marinated in soy sauce, the meat was not fresh and the dish was very spicy. Despite the existing disadvantages, thanks to some of the hotel staff, it was cozy and comfortable there. Especially a big thank you to Tanya or am I wrong, a middle aged woman with blond hair.

The hotel is excellent, small, only 26 or 28 rooms, but cozy. Three floors, no elevator, so if you have problems with your knees, for example, then it’s better to stay on the 1st floor. We had a third floor room with a view of the road; if there was a view of the sea, then it would be absolutely beautiful. The balcony is huge, almost as big as the room. The renovation was done recently, so it’s clean, there’s no shabby, mold, etc. The housekeeping is clean, good, towels are changed every time. Breakfast is ordinary, like everywhere else - you can eat enough, but without any frills. Lunches and dinners were not included in the price, but in the hotel restaurant you can eat very tasty and inexpensively, the portions are huge. The sea is close, but again you have to go down the stairs to get to the beach. If it's stormy, there's a lot of algae, but otherwise everything is fine.

We rested from August 16 to 23. Upon arrival, we were accommodated for one night in an apartment in the basement of Villa Orange (of the same owner): our room, they say, needed some repairs after the previous guests had moved out, and it was not yet dry. They said that we could move the next day right after breakfast. We came to breakfast with suitcases, but heard that we would be checked into our room at 14.00. We expressed bewilderment, to put it mildly, and soon we were taken to room seven. The room is small (especially compared to the apartments), but with a sea view. If the floor were higher, the view would have been better, but our location also had its own charm: three meters from the door there was a swimming pool, behind it there was access to the stairs leading to the beach. The third bed in the room (we were three adults) is a folding chair,on the first evening his leg broke or his pillow sank, but on subsequent nights the son somehow adapted. There is also air conditioning, a small plasma (two or three Russian channels, none Ukrainian), a small refrigerator, two cabinets with shelves and hangers, a table with a mirror and drawers, an electric kettle and three cups, and lamps on the bedside tables. On the terrace there is a table, two wicker chairs, and a drying rack. There was always hot water, a little water leaked from under the shower curtain onto the floor. There is a hairdryer, bottles of shampoo were provided. They cleaned it every day, it was good, they changed the towels if you put them on the floor, it seems to me that the bed was not changed. Everyone at the reception speaks both Russian and English. The hotel consists of three small buildings, between which there are two swimming pools. The area is small, but clean and cozy, with a lot of flowers. Next to the hotel there is a Lidl supermarket; prices, as other commentators have written, are relatively low, and there are also small shops. “Selena Beach” is located on the outskirts of Sozopol, so you need to walk a little to get to the new and old town, 20-30 minutes at a calm pace, but Old city it's worth it. We exchanged euros for leva at the reception (the exchange rate is approximately 1 to 1.91). Food. For breakfast - an omelet, boiled eggs, sausages, cold cuts, hard and soft cheese, butter, cereal, milk, tea, cucumbers, tomatoes, olives, pastries, watermelon... Coffee from the machine and from the “barrel”, but like that, and the other one - not really. They bake delicious pancakes, they can be spread with chocolate or jam, or both. The dinners were good, varied, there was plenty to choose from - meat, chicken, mussels, shrimp (not every day), potatoes in many types, salads, fresh vegetables, stewed, baked, cream soup, there was pasta, risotto, lasagna, always several types cakes, peaches and plums, soft ice cream with various additives... Drinks from the machine (though very diluted) in the evening, as well as in the morning, are free. Dishes from the tables are removed quickly and washed well, there was almost always enough cutlery and glasses. Respect to the restaurant. You can dine in the hotel restaurant, prices are moderate. You can buy something at Lidl or walk towards a new city and grab a few slices of (large) pizza at the Bakery. You can order pizza at the beach bar, it will cost 13 leva (about 7 euros). Beach. Selena Beach stands above Bamboo Beach. To get to the beach you need to go down a flight of stairs; it might be a little difficult with a stroller. The beach is small, but quite nice and picturesque, although not perfectly clean. On some websites you can read that Selena Beach has a private beach area. In fact, this is only an opportunity to rent two sunbeds and an umbrella on Bamboo beach with a discount of only 3 leva (the full cost of the set is 24 leva, if you reserve at the reception - 21 leva). Book for a minimum of two days. However, you can buy an umbrella (from 5 leva) and relax under it on towels; there is enough space for this on the beach. Entering the water is not bad, but it wouldn’t hurt to be careful not to step on a sharp shell or trip over a pebble. The water is warm and, in principle, clean, although not without algae. Of the seven days that we were there, five days there was a breeze, there were waves, even a red flag was hung a couple of times, but it was possible to swim. There is a bay very close by, where the sea is calmer, but entering the sea is much worse and there is much more algae. When choosing Sozopol as a holiday destination, we dreamed of going on an excursion to Istanbul. We bought the excursion from the host company, the Solvex company, overpaid 70 euros for three compared to the prices at the city travel agency, but thought that it would be better with a guarantee, it’s still a different country, etc. However, the Solvex bus, which was supposed to pick us up from the meeting point (not far from the hotel) at 12 at night, never came for us. Almost until two o’clock in the morning we were stuck at the intersection, calling the hotel guide many times, who first said that the bus was late, then that they should have picked us up, and finally that the driver had “gotten it out of his head” that he needed to pick us up , but he didn’t want to return. At the same time, the driver lied to the authorities that he had been waiting for us at the meeting point for twenty minutes... We recalled with nostalgia the guides in other countries who looked for tourists who were late for the bus in hotels, woke them up, were slightly behind schedule, but took the entire group on an excursion. Obviously, Solvex optimized such accompanying groups by assigning the responsibility of collecting tourists to headless drivers. It’s a pity that we and our dream of visiting Istanbul became victims of optimization... Having taken a sip, we returned to the hotel, took the things we had deposited two hours ago in the safe (the safe is paid, 5 levs per day), asked if our 5 levs would be returned to us, and received a negative answer. A trifle, but unpleasant... The next day the money for the failed excursion was returned to us, but Solvex thoroughly spoiled the impression of our holiday in Sozopol. By the way, the minibus that was supposed to take us from the hotel to the airport was half an hour late - it arrived when we had already decided that we had been “forgotten” again... I recommend the hotel, it certainly will not disappoint. Have a nice holiday everyone!
