It is Ayia Napa's oldest landmark, dating back to the 15th century when Cyprus was ruled by the Venetians. Now the monastery is located within the city, but at the time of construction it was a remote and quiet place, hidden in pine forest. The church, mill, cells and fountain in the courtyard are built of honey-colored limestone. After the Ottoman conquest in the 16th century, the monastery remained untouched and remained in good condition in subsequent centuries, although monks have not lived here since the end of the 19th century.

This is where the most best beaches Cyprus, depart from here sea excursions, here music plays all night long and the clubs are in full swing. But at the same time, the one who wants have a relaxing holiday, can also get what you want. There are many attractions in and around Ayia Napa.

Cape Cavo Greco

I already wrote about this cape in an article about. It's right between those two. resort towns, and it's definitely worth a visit.

If desired, either on foot or by bicycle. We preferred the second option, but the path is still long.

(pirate caves)

These caves can be seen during a boat trip; ships can even look into some of them (the largest one). Once upon a time, pirates hid their treasures here, and also hid from the authorities and their ill-wishers.

All caves are unique and of natural origin. We stopped here during our sea cruise and even swam inside one of the caves. Here you can see an unusual rock arch, surprising tourists with its power and uniqueness, created without the involvement of humans.

Lover's Bridge

The Lovers' Bridge is a natural arch in the rock, formed without human intervention. This is a very popular photography spot and many couples have their photo shoots here.

"Bridge of Lovers" Some just take pictures, while others jump from it.

But there is another use for this natural bridge - extreme sports enthusiasts jump into the water from it. Sergei, for example, even really liked it.

Beaches of Ayia Napa

Nissi Beach

This beach with fine white sand has long become not just a vacation spot, but also one of the most famous attractions of Ayia Napa, its calling card.

It's marked Blue flag quality and like a magnet attracts all vacationers. In the evening there are DJs and parties here, but during the day there is practically no free space due to the abundance of sunbathing bodies.

This is one of the most wonderful places in Cyprus, where all the boats always stop to give people the opportunity to swim in the sky-blue clear water.

This small cove is surrounded by rocks, so there is no wind here, and the water is particularly blue.

Museums of Ayia Napa

Thalassa Maritime Museum

This museum, which opened in 1992, invites visitors to immerse themselves in the world depths of the sea and meet the inhabitants of the sea.

Note: “Thalassa” means “sea” in Greek.

Several halls display many exhibits: birds, turtles, various types of fish and plants living in the sea. There are both modern representatives of the fauna and various fossils. The museum also contains a large collection of ship accessories.

But the museum is especially proud of one exhibit - a reconstruction of the ancient Greek ship Kerynia-Eleftheria, which sank off the coast of Cyprus in the 4th century BC. Another hall also delights visitors - the process of a shipwreck is shown here.

Museum "Country House"

In Ayia Napa, on the monastery square, there is an interesting small museum - “The Country House”. There you can get acquainted with what the home of a Cypriot peasant is like, with the customs and traditions of local villages.

Entertainment in Ayia Napa

To the water park water world we came from Protaras as it is truly an amazing place to visit. It is made in the theme of ancient Greek mythology, and all the slides and pools are named after one legend or another.

The territory of the water park is simply huge, and many people come here just to spend time with a book in their hands on a sun lounger or by the pool, and not to get adrenaline from the local slides.

Lunapark

Ayia Napa has a Lunapark with many attractions, both children's and extreme ones. For those who want to explore the surroundings from above, there is a Ferris Wheel, for extreme sports enthusiasts there is a Catapult, which shoots a person several tens of meters above the ground.

There is free fall, cars, all kinds of children's attractions.

Club Street

Ayia Napa has a lot of nightclubs and entertainment venues that open in the evenings, but they are all concentrated in one place - Club Street. This place is known and loved by all the partygoers of the resort.

During the day it is an ordinary street, convenient for leisurely walks, and at night there is a string of restaurants and clubs where the music never stops. But even if you’re not a fan of night parties, it’s worth strolling along it at least during the daytime to appreciate the unique design of shop windows and the exterior interiors of local establishments.

There is a harbor in Ayia Napa from where boat excursions around Cyprus depart. There are many companies involved in cruises: there are large yachts, there are small glass bottom boats and regular cruise boats.

The cost also varies - from 5 euros. We took a 4.% hour excursion with lunch on a large yacht. The impressions of a sea cruise are simply unforgettable. Besides this The best way get to the very picturesque place for swimming in Cyprus - the blue lagoon.

Ship "Black Pearl"

This ship is worth mentioning separately. It is not simple sea cruise, this is real pirate entertainment for children. The atmosphere is chosen just perfectly: the ship itself is similar to the famous “Black Pearl” from “Pirates of the Caribbean”, the crew is well made up, and the program is well chosen.

In addition to the walk, the visitor is invited to take part in a treasure hunt, shoot cannons, swim in the sea and dine with a team of brave corsairs. Children will definitely enjoy this excursion. Please note that it is more expensive and noisier than a simple sea cruise.
