Since Hua Hin is oriented almost the same as the Vietnam surf coast, it is not surprising that kiters besieged this city. The wind blows in Hua Hin almost constantly throughout the year, but according to the kiters themselves the best winds for doing this sport come in February, March, April. For us mere mortals, not suffering from adrenaline breaking, it is advisable to go to Hua Hin in December-January, when there are not so many winds and you can enjoy swimming in relatively calm water.

On my vacation there were quiet and windy days. When the sea was calm, I swam. When the wind and waves rose, I wet my feet in the oncoming wave and took pictures of kaityuk.

On the long Hua Hin coast, several schools for beginners and "continuing" kaityuk settled down. I was not interested in their rates, but according to rumors, a two-day beginner's course costs from 8 to 11 thousand rubles. Further courses are cheaper. Some schools give a try to kite for free))). Representatives of the KBA kite school all the time climbed into my lens))).

The team of instructors for the most part is international, that is, there are very few Thais among them. Mostly Europeans, Americans, people from the east ...

It seemed to me in my inexperienced mind to learn kitesurfing in comparison with regular surfing and is more complicated and easier at the same time. On the one hand, you constantly have support in the form of a kite (parachute), but on the other hand, it’s very difficult to control this monster, who is ready to break out of your arms at any time and pull it off the board. I practically did not see the newcomers who more or less succeeded, while the surfers were pretty confident on the boards after a few days) And these kite fastening and control systems remind me of computer technology.

By the way, they say that black leggings are a protection against jellyfish, which are sometimes present in coastal waters.

Before you understand the benefits of Samui kitesurfing, it is not out of place to understand what this sport is based on. Its name is a new term in the domestic lexicon. It comes from the English word kite, meaning "kite".

This direction in sports has much in common with windsurfing, but there are still differences. In this case, the board on which the athlete stands moves through the water due to the traction provided by the inflatable kite. Many people dream of learning to kite, because this way they simultaneously feel the power of energy, speed, excitement on themselves. Kitesurfing worldwide was made available by the Rosler brothers (USA), Peter Lynn (New Zealand) and Legan (France).

Kitesurfing spots on Koh Samui

If you think that in Thailand you can only lie on the beach, attend entertainment venues, then you are mistaken. In fact, this tourist country is very developed and offers its guests many ways to have a good time. One of those is kitesurfing. Its main infrastructure is concentrated on the east coast of the Gulf of Thailand. Here is the third largest tropical island called Samui. It is characterized by the presence of a large number of coconut palms, lined along snow-white beaches. There are different places for kitesurfing on Samui, each has its own characteristics. All of them are very popular because there are no burning jellyfish, dangerous rocks, waves, as well as boats, jet skis, bananas. This provides ideal conditions for kiting.

On the island there are two main centers for learning to ride on a wave board.

  1. Hua Thanon is the southeastern part of the land plot inside Samui Orchid Resort & Aquarium. It was here that at one time the largest kite center was located. Here you will find an incredibly large store with all the necessary equipment. It is better to visit this place from November to March.

  1. Nathon - is the northwestern part of the island. Classes are held near the Grand Seaview Beach Resort. The good thing is that in this area there are still small sandy coves with distant reefs. They protect the inner bay, thereby keeping the water perfectly smooth.

In this place, experienced kiters, along with beginners, will find an attractive store for themselves, where the most modern equipment is sold at affordable prices. Here are offered:

  • kites of various brands
  • boards
  • accessories
  • and even buggies, foyle kites, mountainboards.

At this place, quality products are sold at the best prices.

It is interesting to know that Koh Samui has been a tourist destination since 1970. To this day, tourists from different parts of the world come here with the purpose of relaxation, water sports. The secret of the resort's appeal lies in the fact that it offers not only riding on the boards with the help of controlled kites, but also other entertainments, for example:

  • golf,
  • trekking
  • thai boxing,
  • festivals
  • trips to the famous marine park called Angthong.

And, of course, there were some nightclubs, the island has the best entertainment in the whole country. Depending on your financial capabilities, here you can find apartments for any wallet, catering establishments, and also, if you wish, you can even rent a private villa, a small bungalow right on the beach.

Kitesurfing on Samui - specialized schools

Learn skills better from professionals. For this, in the cities where this sport is developed, special educational institutions are opening.

  1. More Than Kite Project - classes are taught only by experienced instructors. Beginners get a lot of useful information for themselves about the equipment itself, as well as how to use it correctly. No one is sent to the water until a full briefing has been completed. Practice takes 9 hours, but it is divided into several stages.

  1. Kiteboarding Asia - the school owns two large centers. This is due to the fact that the local wind sometimes changes its direction.

  1. Russian kite school on Koh Samui - was opened not so long ago, namely in 2013. There is an educational institution for future kiters near the Orchid Resort hotel. Here classes can be held individually, as well as by appointment. The price difference is 1,000 baht.

Kitesurfing in Hua Hin

Another attractive spot on the Gulf of Thailand is Hua Hin. More specifically, the village is located three hours drive from Bangkok, namely from Phuket. From the airport you can get here by taxi, bus, train.

It is immediately worth noting that there are not so many athletes riding along the waves. Kitesurfing in Hua Hin is glad that there is a sandy beach, as well as no stones. Between May and November, the weather in this area is mostly windless and rainy. But with the onset of March and May, the time for a trip is considered the best.

Whatever part of Tunisia you are going to, if your goal is kitesurfing, then before the trip it will be useful to get acquainted with the table of winds. It should be relevant for your chosen area.

But then - it is insanely beautiful. People like dragons walk here and there on the beach)))

Well, soon there will be a story about the other "chips" of Hua Hin. Do not switch;)
