Top 10 tent cities in Crimea

I don’t know about you, but my family really likes camping. And in Crimea we stayed in a tent city and camped on the shores of the Black Sea.

Now, due to the imposition of sanctions against our country, many citizens are refusing to rest. They say that you won’t find the usual service abroad in Russia, and there are no places where you can go so that the quality matches the price. And, in order to break the stereotype in Russia, we suggest going by car with a tent or camper to Crimea and invite you to familiarize yourself with popular places for camping on the Black Sea coast.

This is our distant campsite three years ago: our first overnight stay in Crimea in a tent in 2015

Below we will present ten stunning campsites in Crimea where you can spend an unforgettable vacation. The so-called “savage holiday” is an excellent choice in favor of fresh air, impressions and vigor for a long time. This type of vacation is suitable for tourists for whom staying in a boarding house or hotel with all amenities is not an affordable luxury, but also for those who like to spend their vacation this way. There is enough space for camping in Crimea, with the exception of protected areas and populated areas. The campsites are located near the sea on the beach line with equipped toilets, showers and fresh water.

Cities such as New Sudak, Koktebel, Alushta and others are suitable for a “savage” holiday.

The way to the camping in Crimea

To enjoy a “savage” holiday, you need to travel by car. The car allows its passengers to visit various cities, visit unique places, stop for swimming in wild places. When traveling with a group, you can save on gasoline. When traveling to Crimea, the following points should be taken into account: a long road (a navigator or another person is needed to replace the driver), adherence to the speed limit and patience in traffic jams on the highways. Having reached Kerch crossing The car drives onto the ferry and then unloads on the other side. There are parking lots for vehicles, where the car is parked and a bus and ferry are offered to continue the journey.

What to take for camping on the Black Sea?

Before you hit the road by car, you need to take care of your luggage. For accommodation you need to take a tent, sleeping bag, rug and raincoat. Clothing (warm jacket, windbreaker, warm trousers, socks and underwear) and shoes (flat sneakers and flip-flops) should be practical. For headwear, a panama, cap or hat. And, sunglasses, sun cream, sun cream, burns and bites, dishes, matches, a flashlight, a map of the area, a flask with fresh water, batteries, a rechargeable battery and a first aid kit are mandatory attributes of the trip.

As for provisions, for the first time you can take:

  • coffee,
  • sugar,
  • crackers,
  • cracker,
  • canned food,
  • fresh water,
  • porridge (oatmeal or buckwheat).

You can replenish supplies at any store.

Put a compulsory medical insurance policy or other insurance in your backpack, just in case, and a passport.

What dangers can await campers in tents?

When vacationing as a “savage,” you should take into account that the nature around you and its inhabitants may not always be hospitable. For example, stray dogs, spiders, snakes and insects. If they are bitten, you should immediately consult a doctor. Drink only boiled water, stop overnight in a safe place, avoiding cliffs and slopes. Do not swim in a thunderstorm or storm.

These are not all campsites. Crimea is huge, and there are really a lot of places. If you know good campsites in Crimea, share in the comments, I will be very grateful.

If you are ready to sacrifice the basic benefits of civilization and familiar comfort, and in return get the purest sea, almost virgin nature, picturesque views and unforgettable impressions, then be sure to go to Cape Sarych, which is located not far from Sevastopol.

This place is a paradise for those tourists who are used to relaxing with tents. There are always few people here, there is no fuss or noise, and time flows so smoothly that sometimes it seems as if it has stopped. It’s better not to vacation on Cape Sarych with small children. Firstly, the nearby beaches are all rocky, and you have to climb over huge boulders to get to them. Secondly, there are not even springs near this fabulously beautiful place, and therefore you need to take drinking water with you.

Currently, there is a camping site here, which offers a place in a tent and three meals a day for a fee, and a recreation center where vacationers live in wooden cottages without amenities. On my own behalf, I can add that people come here not for convenience, but in order to at least temporarily lose touch with modern reality. Personally, I have only pleasant impressions and stunning photographs about my vacation at Cape Sarych.

A little history

First of all, it is worth noting that Cape Sarych is the most southern point Crimean peninsula and is located 30 kilometers from Sevastopol, to which it belongs administratively. The exact origin of the name is still unknown. The most plausible version is that Sarych, translated from Turkic, means yellow - golden, like the color of the soil on the cape. Near this small tip of land in November 1914, a battle took place between a squadron of the Black Sea Fleet and German-Turkish battleships, which resulted in the shameful flight of the wounded enemy.

At the very beginning of the Great Patriotic War, the steamship Lenin heroically died near the cape, on board which were residents of evacuated Odessa.

A navigation lighthouse was erected at one of the ends of the cape in 1898, which is still considered operational, and therefore it is not possible to enter its territory.

Walking along the path in his direction, I came across a high fence with barbed wire wound on top. In Soviet times, the entire territory of Cape Sarych was guarded, and tourists could not get here. Today, with the exception of the protected area, the place is open to visitors and swimming.

Terrain features

Cape Sarych is the end of the slope of the Baydarskaya Yayla mountain range. Almost along its entire length you will find stone blocks and boulders of different sizes, on top of which juniper woodlands grow. By personal experience I can say that the coast here is uninhabited and a little “wild”, which, in principle, arouses interest among tourists.

Some plants that grow on the slopes of Cape Sarych are listed in the Red Book, for example, tall juniper and blunt pistachio.

The few beaches located on the slopes of the cape have an inconvenient approach and consist of large pebbles and boulders. I especially want to note the indescribable transparency of the water, which is somewhat colder here than in the neighboring bays.

The coastline of the cape is riddled with numerous limestone fractures, in the thickness of which fossilized coral deposits are often found. In general, if you dream of seeing a corner with untouched nature, surrounded by picturesque cliffs, then I highly recommend visiting Cape Sarych.

How to get there

Cape Sarych is located 30 kilometers from Sevastopol and 40 from Yalta.

You can get here from both cities by passing intercity buses or your own vehicle.

Road from Sevastopol

Administratively, Cape Sarych belongs to Sevastopol and is subordinate to the local administration.

There are no direct bus services, and therefore anyone who wants to get here by public transport, must be prepared for the fact that part of the journey, about three kilometers, will have to be covered on foot.

We're going by bus

All buses heading towards Yalta pass by Cape Sarych. They depart from the city bus station, which is located at: st. Vokzalnaya 11.

Transport runs from 6 am to 10 pm, and the frequency of movement is on average 25 minutes. A ticket will cost 70 rubles per person. The driver must be warned to stop at the “Cape Sarych” stop. Next, you should turn off the highway onto the asphalt road that leads to the sea and move along it without turning anywhere.

The asphalt ends near the Sarych recreation center, to the right of which is the Yuzhak camping site. If you came with your own tent, you can follow the paths further down and choose your own place to rest.

By car

In your own car, you should leave Sevastopol along General Melnik Street and follow the direction of the Yalta Ring, where you should turn towards the Yuzhnoberezhnoe Highway. Before reaching three kilometers to the village, you need to turn off the highway to the right and start descending along a winding asphalt road down to the sea. The direction for the turn will be signs, as well as a huge red and white television tower standing near the turn. You can get to the gate of the recreation center, near which only guests of the boarding house can park their car for free.

For everyone else, parking will cost 300 rubles per day or 50 rubles/hour. I don’t recommend looking for a place for a car on the cape itself, since the place is surrounded by numerous stone boulders, moreover, there are cliffs.

The way from Yalta

If you get to Cape Sarych from Yalta, the journey will take about 1 hour, during which you will need to cover about 45 kilometers.

By bus

All buses traveling in the direction of Sevastopol from the city bus station located at st. Moskovskaya 8.

They run from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. every 25 minutes. The fare is 75 rubles per person. It is better to tell the driver first to stop at Cape Sarych. From the stop to the sea you should move in the same way as from Sevastopol.

We're going by car

By car from Yalta along Voikova Street you should exit onto the Yuzhnoberezhnoe Highway and drive along it in the direction of Sevastopol for about 40 kilometers.

After the village you will need to turn left from the highway and go down to the sea along a winding asphalt road. Turning landmarks, like the road itself, are described in detail just above.

Rest as a savage

If you included a visit to Cape Sarych in your a tourist route, then I advise you to go there for several days, taking with you a tent, food, and most importantly drinking water. Finding a place for a tent is not difficult. There are many comfortable shady places, including close to the sea.

You should be prepared for the fact that even mobile connection at Cape Sarych it does not work stably; very often in order to catch a signal, you have to climb onto a hill.

The only place where you can buy drinks and food nearby is a small tent near the entrance to the recreation center.

The assortment of goods here is meager, although prices are not much different from those in the city:

  • beer 0.5 liters for 70 rubles;
  • mineral water 1.5 liters from 55 rubles;
  • cookies from 40 per two hundred gram pack;
  • canned fish from 40 rubles.

You can charge your phone only at a campsite or at a recreation center, and even then only by agreement with vacationers. In emergency cases, you can also ask them for drinking water.

The nearest medical center and food market with shops are in the village, which is located about five kilometers from Cape Sarych. You can get there on foot, in which case you will have to travel for about half an hour along a winding path. A more convenient way to get to locality- This is to go up to the highway and take any bus going in the direction of Yalta.

Transport runs quite often, approximately once every 25 minutes, you will have to pay 10 rubles for the ride, and you need to get off at the next stop.

Beaches at Cape Sarych

At Cape Sarych there is only wild beaches, the territory of which is strewn with boulders, which vacationers have long used instead of sun loungers. Conventionally, we can distinguish three places that are at least somehow adapted for swimming.

On the left side, if you look at the sea near the water, there are those who consider themselves nudists. Here you can hide from prying eyes behind large stones and rocks that are located right in the sea.

I liked the main beach, which is located in the center of the cape. There are also plenty of rocky boulders on its territory, but there are also convenient pebble approaches to the water.

The place on the left side is mainly used by those who like to dive, since the depth here is quite deep, and the shore is a rocky surface.

Camping

If you want to get at least some amenities while relaxing on Cape Sarych, then I recommend staying at the local camping site “Yuzhak”. Its rather small territory is surrounded by a chain-link mesh. In order to relax here, you do not need to reserve a place in advance. All you have to do is approach the attendant at the entrance and agree on everything. If you are traveling by car, you can leave your car at the camp site.

For an additional fee you will be offered the required number of places in tents, barbecues, cozy wooden gazebos with benches and tables. There are several dry closets and showers. The prices, in my opinion, are quite affordable:

  • one place in a four-person tent for a day 300 rubles;
  • four-person tent for knocking 800 rubles;
  • Car parking on the camp grounds costs 200 rubles per day.

The tents have wooden pallets, mattresses, and blankets. Lanterns are hung around the campsite, and there are sockets near each pole for charging phones.

For campers, drinking water in plastic barrels is delivered daily. Moreover, for an additional fee, the camp offers three meals a day, which are also brought from the city, and are only heated in the local canteen.

The food is quite monotonous. Typically, breakfast includes boiled eggs, butter, bread and a variety of pastries. Lunch consists of first, second and juice of your choice. In turn, dinner includes a salad of fresh vegetables and a side dish with a cutlet. The cost of food per day per person is 500 rubles.

Recreation center

More comfortable conditions for relaxation can be obtained at the only recreation center, which is named after Cape Sarych. It is located on the left side of the campsite in the forest. Tourists are accommodated in summer wooden houses, each of which consists of two small rooms, equipped for two or three people.

A washbasin and refrigerator are located on the veranda of each cottage. Toilets and showers are shared. For vacationers of the boarding house there is a dining room with three meals a day and a first-aid post. Residents can also park their car in a guarded parking lot for free.

Each room has two or three beds, depending on the number of guests, bedside tables and a wardrobe, an electrical outlet and a lamp. Bed linen is changed once a week. The cost of living is:

  • per person per day including 3 meals a day – 1100 rubles;
  • without food, accommodation for one person per knock will be 600 rubles;
  • Children under 5 years old stay with their parents for free.

Between the cottages there are awnings; in addition, several wooden gazebos have been built on the territory and places with barbecues have been equipped. Those who like to watch TV in the evening can do so in the base canteen. It is worth noting that the rooms do not have air conditioning, Wi-Fi, or other modern amenities.

Access to the sea is open on all wild beaches of Cape Sarych.

***

Cape Sarych is a quiet beautiful place with almost virgin nature and a clean, transparent sea. I recommend going here on vacation to those who can temporarily abandon the benefits of civilization.

In return, you will receive unforgettable impressions and vivid photographs that will remind you of the rocky Crimean coast for a long time.
